Tutorial introduction
Yu Yang, Ph.D.
Yu Yang is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the Institute of Molecular Medicine at Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. Prof. Yang is a recipient of both the National Overseas Excellent Young Scholars Programme and the Shanghai High-Level Overseas Talent Programme. He earned his PhD in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Macau, subsequently conducting postdoctoral research in molecular medicine under the mentorship of Academician Weihong Tan at the University of Florida in the USA.
Guided by clinical needs, his recent work focuses on developing tumor and immune microenvironment intervention technologies and related therapies based on functional nucleic acids and genetic engineering. Over the past five years, he has published over 40 SCI-indexed papers as a corresponding author in top-tier journals, including Chem (3), Science Advances (2), Journal of the American Chemical Society (4), Angewandte Chemie International Edition (3), Advanced Materials (2), Nano Letters (2), ACS Nano (2), and ACS Central Science (2). His publications have garnered over 9,000 citations with an H-index of 50, and multiple papers have been recognized as ESI Highly Cited Papers.
Prof. Yang has led several key research projects, including those funded by the National Key Research and Development Programme of China, the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Young Scientists Fund Project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has received several awards, including the Shanghai Shuguang Scholar Award (2024), the University of Macau Postgraduate Research Award in Science and Technology (2018) and the Baxter China Young Investigator Award (First Prize, 2019). He is a committee member of the Youth Working Committee of the Chinese Society for Biomaterials and a council member of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (Herbal Preparations Committee). He is also a Youth Editorial Board member for Nano Micro Letters, Exploration, and AJPS.
